Coffee is Wealth

Banyankole Coffee Services cooperative Society Ltd is a 1st grade fairtrade coffee farmer organization in South western Uganda. Was first formed as a CBO by 5 Coffee Farmers Associations with 481 individual members in 2015, and was fully registered by the district on 18th October 2017 in the Republic of Uganda. It acquired fairtrade certification in 2019 on 29th January & and it transited to the level of a cooperative in July 2025, with membership of 1,616 of which 1,184 males 432 females.

All small farmers are fairtrade – certified in this organisation as their umbrella, services provider and marketing organisation. Farmers organised themselves and registered BCS in order to have a big bargaining voice in the world market with Robusta coffee and to have the capacity to export Uganda natural coffees to increase their household incomes and to strengthen the business relationship between the farmer producers and buyers socially, economically and preservation of natural environment.

e bulk good quality coffee from small Farmer Associations/groups and add value to their produce ready for grading into exportable grades to meet international coffee standards. We provide linkage services and bargaining powers between farmers and buyers and most importantly, the farmer benefits from world market prices and is encouraged to take exceptional care to produce good quality coffee.

  • To promote and strengthen the capacity of women, youth and people with disabilities participation in coffee production and other economic developments.

  • To fight HIV/ AIDS through sensitisation campaigns.

  • BCS producer organisation is owned by farmers who are organised in associations/ groups. Each group keeps a register of its members who elect committees which manages the associations businesses
